Tidy School Award
Rathmichael School recently won First Prize in Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council's Tidy School Competition. These pictures show some of our 5th Class pupils, our Principal Caroline Senior and our parent representative on Shankill's Tidy Towns committee, Yvonne Cooper, collecting the award at the Town Hall in Dun Laoghaire. About Our School Rathmichael Parish National School is located in Shankill, South County Dublin. It is a 12 teacher-school, with a Principal, 8 mainstream class teachers and 3 resource teachers. We have 6 special needs assistants, a school secretary and a school caretaker. The school was
established in
1825 and was originally located on the site of the Silver Tassie. The
current site was given to the parish by Sir Charles William Compton
Domville in 1891.
In 1892, the school was completed and dedicated to the Rev. Edward Burton, the first Rector of Rathmichael Church who had died in 1890. The school's patron is the Church of Ireland Bishop of Dublin and Glendalough. School
Hours
School doors open at 8.40am and classes commence at 8.55am. Break: 10.45 am-11.00 am (10.30-10.45 on Thursdays) Lunch: 12.45pm-1.15pm Junior and Senior Infants go home at 1.25pm. First to Sixth Class go home at 2.25pm. Extra-curricular Sports are from 2.30pm-3.30pm daily. School Aims To develop a spirit of happiness and co-operation among all who work in the school. To prepare the pupils to live and work in their own environment and to develop their attitudes and skills, enabling them to be responsible citizens. To cater for the needs of all pupils, irrespective of academic ability. To develop order and discipline in the school so that all aspects of pupils' personality may be developed and learning can be a pleasure. |
